Description | : | Secretary, Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED), Mr Md. Kamal Uddin, has urged the government officers to work with integrity and courage in dealing with public procurement. He was speaking as the chief guest at a programme organized on the occasion of an open forum, closing and certificate awarding ceremony of the ninth batch of non-residential training on basic public procurement management at the Engineering Staff College Bangladesh campus at Ramna in Dhaka on 20 May 2025. The three-week training being provided by Bangladesh Public Procurement (BPPA) there began on 3 May 2025. The Chief Executive Officer (Additional Secretary) of BPPA, Mr Mirza Ashfaqur Rahman, was present as the Special Guest in the programme. Mr. Md Nasimur Rahman Sharif, Director (Joint Secretary) of BPPA was also present as the Special Guest and Resource Person in public procurement on the occasion. Addressing the participants, the IMED Secretary said that those who received training need to work with integrity and courage in their work place while handling public procurement. He said no ‘discretionary power’ should be exercised in the process of public procurement, rather all functions should be performed as per the law and rules. The CEO urged the participants to utilize the knowledge they have gained from the three-week training. The Rector of ESCB, Mr. Md. Ashraful Alam, presided over the closing session while coordinator Dr. Tawheed Hasan, Head of the Procurement Unit and Faculty Trainer at ESCB, was also present. A total of 34 participants, including some women officers from various government procuring agencies, took part in the ninth batch training. The training programme is going on at ESCB under the Digitizing Implementation Monitoring and Public Procurement Project (DIMAPPP) for the government officers. Under a current contract of BPPA with ESCB, the training on basic public procurement management started from February 2025 and it will continue until December 2025.
