Description | : | The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA) Mr. Mohammed Shoheler Rahman Chowdhury has called for implementation of electronic Contract Management System (e-CMS) in procurement of all procuring entities (PEs). He made the call during a training session for officers of various companies of the power sector at BPPA conference room in Dhaka on 25 March 2024. A total of 21 officers started attending a 15-day basic training on public procurement for power sector arranged by Bangladesh Power Management Institute. The training started there on 12 March and will continue until 2 April 2024. It is the sixth batch of such training. On the ninth day the trainees attended some sessions at BPPA as part of their visit and having a hands-on training on implementation of electronic Government Procurement (e-GP), procurement reforms and the establishment of former CPTU which is now transformed into BPPA. Mr. Mohammed Shoheler Rahman Chowdhury spoke about introduction of e-GP, role of former CPTU, e-GP registration, PE office creation, government user creation and e-GP ID management. Senior System Analyst of BPPA, Mr Md. Mosharraf Hussain conducted some sessions under the broader areas of e-GP implementation. During his discussion with the participants the BPPA CEO focused on some new features which have already been made functional in the e-GP system. One of such important features is e-CMS which has made e-GP a complete online system. He called upon all procuring entities to take the benefits of e-CMS in execution of their contracts in public procurement. “Please use e-CMS and make your life comfortable by just making a click,” the BPPA CEO urged all entities. The participants made queries on various issues of e-GP implementation. The CEO and the SSA replied to their queries. The officers are from RCPCL, BR Power Gen, CPGCL, DESCO, DPDC, EGCB, NESCO, NWPGCL, PGCB, RPCL and WZPDCL in the power sector of the government. The government on 18 September 2023 transformed former CPTU into BPPA. The former CPTU introduced e-GP in Bangladesh on 2 June 2011 with support from the World Bank.
