Title : e-GP awareness workshop held in Bagerhat

A workshop on electronic government procurement was held in Bagerhat on 20 July 2023 to enhance awareness about e-GP among all with a view to ensuring transparency in public procurement process.

The Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) of the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED), Ministry of Planning, organized the workshop in the conference room of the office of Deputy Commissioner in the district.

The CPTU conducted it under Digitizing Implementation Monitoring and Public Procurement Project (DIMAPPP) supported by the World Bank. The workshop was managed by Bangladesh Center for Communication Programs (BCCP).

Mr. Md. Shamimul Haque, Director (Additional Secretary), CPTU, IMED, Ministry of Planning, spoke as the chief guest in the workshop chaired by Muhammad Azizur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, Bagerhat.

Dr. Zeenat Sultana, Program Director, BCCP, delivered welcome address and made a presentation on e-GP in the workshop moderated by Md. Abdus Salam, Program Manager, BCCP. Ms. Zeenat also elaborated on Citizen Portal of CPTU and its effectiveness for people of all strata.

Stressing the need for proper utilization of various modules incorporated by CPTU within the e-GP system for ensuring complete digitization, Mr. Shamimul said this will ensure appropriate use of public money and accelerate country’s development.

In the presentation, it was emphasized that Citizen Portal will help ensure people’s participation in monitoring of project implementation as this incorporates features to get access to related information on project works. For this, the Citizen Portal needs to be popularized among the people of all corner, it mentioned.

A total of 75 participants from local procuring entities (PEs), tenderers and journalists attended the workshop.
