Title : Expenditures in public procurement increase with rise in ADP allocation: IMED Secretary

On 28 October 2021, Secretary, Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED), Mr. Pradip Ranjan Chakraborty said that the allocation for Annual Development Program (ADP) increased about 6 times in last 10 years. The expenditures of public procurement also increased.

The Secretary said this while attending online a workshop from IMED Conference Room. The CPTU organized the workshop in Satkhira on citizen engagement in public procurement with the facilitation of the BIGD.   

Director General of CPTU Mr Mohammed Shoheler Rahman Chowdhury presided over the workshop. Mr. Humayun Kabir, Deputy Commissioner of Satkhira joined it as the special guest.

Director of CPTU Mr Md. Aziz Taher Khan deliver the welcome address while Dr. Mirza Hassan, chief research fellow of the BIGD, made a power point presentation on the subject. Mr. Md. Shafiul Alam, senior communication consultant, DIMAPP, CPTU, moderated the workshop.

On behalf of CPTU, the BIGD has been doing monitoring of 240 contracts in 48 upazillas of the country since 2019 through the local citizen groups. The community empowerment program of BRAC is supporting BIGD. Of the contracts, monitoring of 68 ones has so far been completed. The quality of work has increased due to citizen monitoring at the local level.
