| Brief Description of Assignment |
: |
The prime objective of the assignment is to prepare a comprehensive guideline for the exploration and development of conventional and unconventional hydrocarbon resources in terms of Geophysical point of view by the following scope of services:
i) Undertake initiative for improvement of exploration, appraisal and field development processes of BAPEX considering the E&P industry best practice.
ii) Provide expertise support to finalize Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), which is applicable for E&P operations for both conventional and unconventional hydrocarbons exploration and production.
iii) Advice and assist in the basin analysis, petroleum system analysis, play and prospect analysis workflows in context of Geophysical viewpoint.
iv) Advice and assist in conducting technical evaluation and preparing feasibility studies for new exploration projects both in onshore and offshore areas of Bangladesh.
v) Advice and assist in quality control in Geophysical data acquisition, processing, and interpretation of ongoing and upcoming projects.
vi) Advice in the analysis of pre-drill expectations and results of past exploration wells and post mortem analysis of dry wells.
vii) Advise in the evaluation of hydrocarbon potential of abandoned/marginal gas fields.
viii) Advice in the application of unconventional methods for exploration and enhancement of gas production, such as, horizontal drilling, hydraulic fracturing, shale gas, tight sand, stratigraphic play, overpressure play, deep-water play etc.
ix) Train and mentor junior geophysicist .
x) Advice in the preparation of Geophysical skills portfolio, performance monitoring and human resources development planning for geoscientists.
xi) Prescribe to adopt Good International Petroleum Industry Practices (GIPIP), Modern Engineering Practices in petroleum exploration efficiently, safely, prudently and in an environmentally sustainable manner.
To address the above mentioned challenges BAPEX is seeking for highly qualified Individual Consultant. After the completion of assignment the Individual Consultant will submit a Final Comprehensive Report. |
| Experience, Resources and Delivery Capacity Required |

General Qualification Criteria for International Individual Consultant (Geophysicist):
i) Minimum M.Sc. degree in Geophysics/ Geo-science from a recognized university. PhD in relevant field (preferably in Geophysics) will get preference.
ii) Minimum 20 years of relevant experience (including exploration and research) mentioned in the Brief description of Assignment.
iii) The Individual Consultant should demonstrate one’s expertise clearly in the CV at least 70% of the prime objective of the assignment.
iv) Minimum 10 years of experience in Exploration and Field Development in the Bengal Basin (conducting/supervising exploration and/or research works).Previous experience at BAPEX as a consultant would be considered an added advantage.
v) Minimum 10 years of experience with International Oil and Gas Companies and/or Petroleum Exploration Service Companies.
vi) Minimum 5 years of Overseas Experience (working in similar basins).
vii) Should have formal and informal (on the job) training in the related field.
viii) Should have experience in Regional Geophysical/Geological Evaluation, Play and Prospect Evaluation and Maturation, Sequence Stratigraphy, Unconventional Resource Exploitation and Geophysical studies in the Bengal Basin. The Individual Consultant should have excellent understanding in advance geophysical techniques like Pre & Post Stack Migration in Time & Depth, velocity analysis, multi-level seismic attribute analysis, AVO (direct hydrocarbon indication using amplitude variation with offset), inversion, rock physics etc.
ix) Basic expertise in G&G software like Petrel, Techlog, Interactive Petrophysics (IP), Reservoir Management System (RMS), GIS, etc.
x) Should have experience in mentoring Junior Geophysicist .Academic experience could be valuable in this regard. |

The Individual Consultant will be selected in accordance with the guidelines of PPR-2008.
Expression of Interest (EOl) shall be submitted by 18-04-2022 either in sealed envelope clearly marked 'EOl for International Individual Consultant'.
