Community Based Adaptation Plan for Water-Food-Health Sustainability in South-Western Coastal Regions of Bangladesh and Capacity Building of Ocean Science Research Center of Khulna Agricultural University
The overall objective of the services shall cover the followings scope: -
• Analysis of the effects of climate change on sea water acidification, sea level rise and hydro-morphological changes of rivers located in the study areas; conduct topographic (River Bank line) and bathymetric survey (major rivers in Khulna region) to analyze the morphological changes of the major rivers in Khulna region;
• Current and future trend of climate change in the southwestern regions of Bangladesh using SDSM model;
• Formulation of strategies for water-food-health sustainability based on SWAT, WEAP and CropWat models;
• Conduct necessary community focused field surveys for gathering qualitative and quantitative data towards developing the climate change adaptation plan for local communities.
• Preparation of community based adaptation plan for sustainability of water-food-health of local communities who live in the project areas in the current contexts of technological, environmental, social and economic aspects.
• Capacity enhancement of Ocean Science Research Center at Khulna Agricultural University (KAU).
• Examine the required number of samples (e.g. ocean water acidification),
• Purchase the required, relevant number of data which will be used in study (example water level, discharge, sedimentation, weather data etc.)
• Organize necessary number of seminars, conferences and workshops as part of stakeholder consultation on pertinent issues.
• All reports and document to be supplied as hard & soft form. The number of supplied copy will be defined by the KAU authority. |
Experience, Resources and Delivery Capacity Required |

a) Background of the firm with Brochure
b) Minimum 20 years experience of consultancy services under Bangladesh Govt./Semi Govt./Autonomous organization
c) At least 5 particular experiences in conducting study /research/ development works and reporting for academic Departments/Institutes of any public Universities
d) Summary qualifications of the Team Leader. He must have PhD degree with 12 years of experience in climate change related fields and 5 years in other fields. The Team Leader should have Bachelor degree in Civil/ Water Resources Engineering/ Physics/Environment/ Geography. He must have strong publication records such as scholarly articles/books published by globally reputed publishers (such as Taylor and Francis/Routledge/Springer etc.) including at least 5 national level contributions in climate change and associated sectors. The Team Leader should hold a blend of academic leadership experiences with professional contributions; experience to handle/lead science, models, large data in connection to climate change studies, vulnerability assessment and define/develop adaptation pathways for affected communities will add extra values.
e) Summary of qualifications of research personnel and experience of technical staff; the consulting firm will have to deploy the following experts: (1) Climate Change Specialist/Team Leader, (2) Oceanographer, (3) Morphologist, (4) Water Resources Planner, (5) Hydrologist, (6) Hydrodynamic Modeling Specialist, (7) Soil and Agricultural Specialist, (8) Fisheries Specialist, (9) Veterinary Specialist, (10) Food and Nutrition Expert/ Public Health Specialist, (11) Economist, (12) Environmentalist, (13) Sociologist, (14) GIS/RS Specialist. The team of consultants should be highly qualified, have publications in peer reviewed international journals and expected to have higher level degrees (e.g. PhD/Masters) and from reputed/foreign universities.
f) Update Trade License, TIN certificate, VAT Registration and annual turnover of last 3 years of the firm.

Consultant will be selected in accordance with PPA/2006 and PPR/2008 and Public Procurement Procedures issued by GOB with its update amendment.
