INFORMATION FOR APPLICANT
|
| Brief Description of Assignment |
: |
The duties include, but are not necessarily limited to:
1. To develop work plan and lead implementation of project activities in relation to food safety and quality control, in coordination with DLS and other relevant entities in livestock value chain development;
2. To make proposals for improvements of food safety policy, legal and regulatory frameworks, including the analysis of legal frameworks and complementary laws and standards in the sector
3. To provide technical leadership in the development of new food safety quality conformity tools and inspection framework for the prevention and control of food safety risks
4. To provide technical guidance to the sector on new, emerging or re-emerging food safety hazards, including the improved food safety early warning and response management capabilities of DLS
5. To assist in developing and implementing Food safety & Quality management system (guidelines, procedures and SOPs) in private sector businesses
6. To analyse the capacity building needs relating to the implementation of food safety systems along the food chain and develop training material and training courses for food safety actors
7. To prepare quarterly reports on progress made so far, implementation approaches, challenges/issues and ways forward.

| Experience, Resources and Delivery Capacity Required |

Educational Qualification:
Master degree in Food Science and Technology/ Animal Husbandry/Veterinary Science or Public Health. Candidate having PhD with relevant field will get preference.
Technical and Functional Experience:
• At least ten (10) years of experience in food safety and quality control along the food chain;
• Twenty (20) years’ working experience in relevant field will get preference;
• Minimum 4 years experiences in activities related to national food control systems and capacity building in major areas of food safety.
• Proven experience in capacity building and supporting the implementation of food safety in development projects.

• Persons who are already in services of the Republic or the local authorities/Corporation etc. must have written certification from their employer/ office head confirming no objection to allow for work full-time outside (on lien) of their official position.
