INFORMATION FOR APPLICANT
|
| Brief Description of Assignment |
: |
The duties include, but are not necessarily limited to:
• To develop work plan and support implementation of project activities in coordination with DLS and other relevant entities in ruminant value chain development and nutritional status;
• To review needs assessment report, discuss findings/suggestions, stakeholder consultations and agree on the way forward with the Project Director and his team;
• To support implement the project activities as per the approved log frame and work plan to achieve the project outcomes;
• To actively participate in the design and implementation of the project activities that support good farming/livestock/industry practices that relate to the development and utilization of feed resources for ruminant, efficient animal nutrition, feed safety and address the associated technical and policy issues including the trade in animal feedstuffs;
• To contribute and technically support appropriate activities of the project with dairy hubs, dairy companies, producer organizations and farmers relating to ruminant feed ration balancing;
• To keep up-to-date and informed on relevant developments; design and conduct analytical studies on specific technical and policy issues affecting ruminant animal nutrition, feed resources and feed safety;
• In relation with the livestock knowledge platform, to assist national institutions in planning/establishing training, extension, research and other development programs for efficient animal nutrition and improvement of the national feed base; collect and analyse appropriate data that contributes to the livestock information systems;
• To implement any other activities related to ruminant value chain development;
Reporting: To prepare monthly reports on progress made so far, implementation approaches, challenges/issues and ways forward.

| Experience, Resources and Delivery Capacity Required |

Educational Qualification:
Master degree in Animal Nutrition having BSc from Animal Husbandry, with specialization in ruminant animal nutrition. Candidate having PhD with extensive field experience will get preference
Technical and Functional Experience:
• A minimum of 10 years practical experience in the field of ruminant animal husbandry and nutrition;
• Twenty (20) years’ experience in relevant fields will get preference;
• Relevant experience in the development of feed resources and improved ruminant animal nutrition;
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with small- medium scale ruminant farming and management practices;
• Proven experience in extension programme design and management, and training programme design and management;

• Persons who are already in services of the Republic or the local authorities/Corporation etc. must have written certification from their employer/ office head confirming no objection to allow for work full-time outside (on lien) of their official position.
