Title : IMED displays e-GP, PMIS at Digital World 2017

Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED), Ministry of Planning, had a good display of electronic government procurement (e-GP) and project management information system (PMIS) at its stall at the annual ICT fair titled, “Digital World 2017” during December 6-9, 2017.

The stall of IMED was placed at the Carnival venue of Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) at city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. A large-scale live display of the e-GP system was arranged there.

Central Procurement Technical Unit of IMED is implementing e-GP in the country to digitize public procurement.

As many as 6000 visitors registered at the IMED stall who inquired about the e-GP system and other associated issues. A good number of e-GP users like tenderers and government procuring entities (PEs) also visited and CPTU experts replied to their queries. 

Digitization of public procurement is one of the priority agenda of the present government. The e-GP system was introduced in 2011. Until December 7, 2017, a total of 1177 procuring agencies out of 1300 were registered with e-GP system. Since introduction it has witnessed an exponential growth as both tenderers and procuring entities have accepted the online tendering gladly and quickly in the country.

The fair to show case digitization and innovation of various public services started on December 6, 2017 and concluded on December 9, 2017. It was open from 9:00am to 9:00 pm every day during the period. Central Procurement Technical Unit of IMED, Ministry of Planning, is implementing e-GP in Bangladesh with support from the World Bank.

Display of CPTU live mobile app at the stall attracted the visitors. Besides, the live data of e-GP were scrolled on a large digital panel.

The Project Management Information System (PMIS) developed by IMED was also displayed at the stall.

Takeaway materials like e-GP pen, IMED brochure and e-GP registration flyer were distributed to visitors who took interest in e-GP system. Until December 7, a total of 131654 tenders worth of a total amount of Tk120480 crore were invited through the e-GP system.

Secretary, IMED, Md Mofizul Islam, Director General of CPTU Md Faruque Hossain and other officials stayed for some time at the stall on December 6, 2017. They also attended visitors. A selected number of staff members of IMED and CPTU attended the stall in shifts to explain e-GP, PMIS etc to visitors.  

The ICT Division conducted the annual digital fair as part of the government vision to build a Digital Bangladesh by 2021.
