Description | : | Mr. Md. Kamal Uddin, Secretary, Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) under the Ministry of Planning, has called upon government officials to properly apply the knowledge gained through training on public procurement in their professional duties. He made this call while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the “Basic Public Procurement Management” training, organized by Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA) on May 10, 2025. This three-week 10th batch of training on public procurement management began on the City Campus of the Engineering Staff College Bangladesh (ESCB), under the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), located in Ramna, Dhaka. The training will conclude on May 28, 2025. So far, 9 out of a total of 41 planned courses for government officials on this campus have been completed. Mr. Mirza Ashfaqur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of BPPA, was present as the special guest at the event. Also present were BPPA Directors Mr. Md. Mahfuzar Rahman and Shaikh Muhammad Refat Ali, ESCB Rector Mr. Md. Ashraful Alam, along with other senior officials. The BPPA Chief Executive Officer remarked that this three-week training program would be highly effective for the participating officials. He expressed hope that it would make their procurement activities more efficient and streamlined. Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of public procurement policies and the Public Procurement Act. The event was presided over by Engineer Mr. Sheikh Al Amin, Vice President of IEB. Thirty first-class officers from various government departments across the country are participating in this training. Over the next three weeks, they will receive in-depth instruction on the laws and rules related to the procurement of goods, works and services. Participants noted that the training would be highly beneficial for government officials. The training is being coordinated by Dr. Tawheed Hasan, Head of the Procurement Unit and Faculty Trainer at the Engineering Staff College Bangladesh (ESCB).
